On July 31, 2011 at 3:30 am, Hoopeston Police Officers responded to the

200 block of East Lincoln Street for a report of a domestic battery complaint with the suspect being

armed with a pistol.  The victim left the apartment prior to officers arrival.  She was later treated

for injuries at the Hoopeston Community Hospital.

Officers were met by Daryl L Perkins age 46 of Hoopeston who had barricaded himself in

the apartment and made threats of killing the officers and himself.

The Vermilion County Sheriff's Department Special Operations Group responded and at

approximately 6:30am.  Perkins came out of the apartment and was taken into custody.

A semi automatic handgun was recovered from the residence.  Perkins was taken to Hoopeston

Hospital for an evaluation and later transported to the P.S.B. Danville on

preliminary charges of Domestic Battery and Unlawful Use of Weapons by a

Convicted Felon.

There is no documented history of Domestic Violence between Perkins and this victim.

Perkins is a convicted felon stemming from Vermilion County Case 1999CF556 for

Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
