Hoopeston Municipal Court
In 2006, the City of Hoopeston adopted a Municipal Court system after the satellite court of the Fifth Judicial Circuit was ordered closed. Municipal Court or Administrative Adjudication is run by the City of Hoopeston with Hearing Officers, who are certified attorneys presiding over the cases. Under this system, the burden of proof is on the offender to prove why they are not guilty of the offense. The minimum fine for an offense is $100 along with court costs, and the maximum fine is $1,000. Only ordinance violations may be heard in Municipal Court.
Municipal Court is held on the first Thursday of each month.
Questions concerning Municipal Court should be directed to Mr. Greg Lane, the Municipal Court Clerk at 283-7645. His hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00am to 1:00pm.
