Auxiliary Police Unit

The Hoopeston Police Department oversees the Hoopeston Police Department's Auxiliary Force. This force is made up of local citizens who have volunteered to receive training and work with the department during times of natural and man made disasters, heightened tensions during national or state alerts, special community events and large school functions. The auxiliary officers serve to augment, assist and support the full-time police officers to provide added security during these times. Auxiliary officers receive in-depth and continuing training and education in all areas of law enforcement. This is strictly a volunteer position open to all eligible citizens, age 21 and older, who can successfully complete the requisite background check requirements.
